Crossing the Wasteland

Covert depression is changed to overt depression by stripping away the addictions and other negative coping methods. Overt depression is transformed into grief over for what was lost. Grief leads to healing as the self hatred is released and empathy for the wounded part of self grows.

The healing process described by Terrence Real.

Invincible

It's a trap. A lie. A myth that has been handed men when we are little boys. "Toughen up", "Don't cry", "Act like a man". We convinced ourselves that we are strong enough, that we are invulnerable. The great fear, the panic under the surface of the calm is that one day people will discover the truth. We can be hurt. We can falter. We do fail. No one is invincible.

Getting connected

It appears that I can make posts from my phone now. I may start to blog more frequently again.

Looking a head

This is complicated time. I am having a good time learning to be an MFT. I find I am good at some parts and learning other parts. However I do not get to do a lot of this counselling as I am busy doing other jobs and other opportunities. I find work, I try to problem solve to make the job work and I try to train people who help those working the jobs. It is a good job and I am treated fairly well but I really want to be doing more things, I want to be doing counselling. I have two more years of Practicum and I have three small classes to finish (they will not take much time). I was told of people looking for a Christian counsellor in town. I'd like to volunteer but I do not have the insurance to be a counsellor. From everything I have heard I could be doing this right now in Ontario except that I need to figure out and understand the insurance.

Last Saturday I was at an MFT conference in Toronto. It was a great experience. I really enjoy conferences. I'd like to see more of how this person works with people and I am studying the book (I Don't Want To Talk About It) right now to really get a grasp of the theory. The idea of being able to work specifically with men to help them in their lives and in the their marriages sounds like something I'd like to do. I am definitely believing the building blocks of his theory. Maybe I'll write some more about it as I figure out how to understand it better.
